University of Louisiana running back Trey Ragas went undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he found a home with Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Raiders have signed Ragas as an undrafted free agent on Saturday after the draft wrapped up.
Ragas appeared in 49 games in four seasons with the Ragin’ Cajuns. He rushed for 3,572 yards and 38 touchdowns during his collegiate career. Ragas also totaled 49 receptions for 427 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
The New Orleans native was named Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference in his senior season.
Elijah Mitchell Projected to Get Drafted by NFC East Team
A local prep standout, who went on to have a stellar career for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns is going to be selected on the final day of the 2021 NFL Draft, according to one NFL Draft expert.
Matt Miller, of Draft Scout, who unveiled his seven-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft on Thursday, predicts former Louisiana Ragin Cajuns football star running back Elijah Mitchell to be taken in the seventh round by an NFC East squad.
Miller projects Mitchell, who was a prep standout at Erath High School to be selected with the 209th pick by the Washington Football Team.
UL Elijah Mitchell Remains Listed as Top 15 RB For NFL Draft
A local prep standout, who has gone on to have a stellar career for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns is highly thought of, is apparently highly thought of, in terms of taking his talents to the NFL next season.
WalterFootball.com lists Louisiana running back Elijah Mitchell, a native of Erath, as the number 14 running back prospect in the nation heading into the 2021 NFL Draft in their positional rankings.
Earlier this year, that website also had Mitchell ranked number 14.
Now, obviously, the rankings of different people/sites will vary, and things like which running backs enter the draft early and injuries could certainly change things. That being said, most draft followers view Mitchell as an outstanding prospect and someone who will undoubtedly be playing on Sundays next year.
Three Cajuns Named All-Americans
Three members of the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns recently received All-American honors for the 2020 college football season by a highly-respected publication.
On Monday, Pro Football Focus (college) tabbed kick return specialist Chris Smith a First Team All-American and safety Bralen Trahan a Third Team All-American, while also listing defensive lineman Zi Yon Hill an Honorable Mention selection.
A First Team All-Sun Belt Conference pick, Smith, a redshirt sophomore, compiled 572 kick return yards, which ranks seventh in the nation, to go along with two touchdowns.
A native of Louisville, Miss., Smith also accumulated 1,042 all-purpose yards this season.
Trahan, who was recently named a Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference performer, ranks fourth on the team in total tackles with 41, while ranking fifth in the country with four interceptions.
