Former West Virginia slugger Darius Hill is playing his way up the minor league ranks. He s batting .321 on the year with 19 RBI s and a home run.
Hill was drafted in the 20th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs. He started in the Rookie League in Arizona before working his way to South Bend, the top single-A organization for the Cubs. However, his average dropped, batting .306 in his two previous stops to .224.
After having last season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hill appears to have made the most of his downtime.
Hill started the 2021 season with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a low Single-A Cubs affiliate. After hitting .375 with five RBI s through seven games, he was moved up to Double-A in Tennesee, where he currently resides. Climbing the ranks has not affected his production, batting .300 with a home run and 14 RBI s in 19 games. The Lexington Legends announced today that they have agreed to terms with nine new players. The list is highlighted by former Major Leaguers, Josh Ravin & Mike Hauschild. Louisville Cardinal, and Owensboro Kentucky native, Cole Sturgeon is joined by former EKU Colonel right-handed pitcher Bryan Quillens adding two more names with local ties on the 2021 Legends roster. Additionally, joining the roster are former MLB minor leaguers; Nick Lovullo, Tilman Pugh, Ty’Relle Harris, D.J. Peterson, and Courtney Hawkins.
Ravin has spent 14 seasons in professional baseball including appearances in the Major Leagues with the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers. Originally drafted in the 2006 June Amateur Draft by the Cincinnati Reds, the right-handed pitcher has also spent time in Japan pitching for the Chiba Lotte Marines. In 35 big league games, Josh has a record of 2 wins, 3 losses with an ERA of 5.12.

The Browns bolstered their defense Thursday night by drafting cornerback Greg Newsome II with the 26th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Now, we re onto Day 2. Unlike Day 1, the projections are much more scattered for where the Browns might go receiver, edge rusher, linebacker and safety are all positions that could be addressed Friday, but any position is truly on the table at this stage of the draft.
