The Blood Transfusion Service is in Ballybofey for the next two days, with a special appeal going out for new donors. National Donations Manager Steven Cousins says recent weeks have seen an increase in activities in hospitals, but the number of donations has fallen. Because of the pandemic, attendance at the clinics is by appointment only, with donors being asked to ring 1850 731 137 to book a time. Steven Cousins says extra staff have been deployed to the Ballybofey clinic to ensure as many donor as possible are facilitated.....

Obituary: Norman Gledhill

THE FUNERAL of well-known Rotarian Norman Gledhill will take place in Rawdon this week. Mr Gledhill, who was also a great supporter of Yeadon Charities, died at the age of 91. Mr Gledhill was born in Holbeck and married his wife Jean in June 1953. He was a lifelong dedicated Leeds United season ticket holder until his deteriorating health cut short his attendance. Aireborough Rotary Club spokesman Robert Mirfield said: Norman was an early entrant to National Service, enjoying his time in the Royal Navy, rising to the rank of Petty Officer serving in the Mediterranean on HMS Savage. He was also particularly proud of his achievements in the boxing team.
