Lance Lynn tossed seven innings of one-run ball Monday in a no-decision versus the Twins. Making his first start since signing that two-year, $38 million contract extension with the White Sox over the weekend, the 34-year-old right-hander was in complete control until he served up a game-tying solo homer to Nelson Cruz in the top of the sixth. Chicago then fell in extras in the first half of the twin-bill. Lynn stands 9-3 on the season with a shiny 1.94 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 109/32 K/BB ratio in 97 2/3 innings. He'll get the Brewers at Milwaukee next.

Before the Chicago White Sox spring training came to a close in the final week of March, Jason Benetti — the team’s announcer and a Syracuse alumnus — had a very special day. The day began with a highly anticipated moment: Benetti received the COVID-19 vaccine.
On its own, this would’ve made his day fantastic, Benetti said, but not even two hours following the shot, Benetti received a call from NBC offering him the position of baseball play-by-play announcer at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Dueling pen games is not what you think of when you imagine ESPN’s Wednesday Night Baseball, but that’s what they ended up getting. Reliever
Jake Reed got the start for the Dodgers the day after making his MLB debut. After getting two outs he gave up a towering homer to
Garrett Cooper to stake the Marlins to a 1-0 lead. Newly recalled
Mitch White continued where he left off last time he was up, giving up a no-doubt homer to
Jesus Sanchez to double the Marlins lead at 2-0.

Ross Detwiler started by getting the first six batters he faced, but got a crooked number put on him in the 3rd.

Still a smidge above .500 after a lousy Subway Series, the New York Yankees are trying to keep the Big Apple focused on two teams entering the second half of this season.
“We understand what’s at stake,” said Boone, the Yankees' embattled manager.
Gio Urshela hit a three-run homer and the Yankees beat the NL East-leading Mets 4-2 to avoid a Subway Series sweep after Aroldis Chapman had another meltdown in the opener of Sunday's split doubleheader. Pete Alonso hit a tying homer off the All-Star closer in the seventh inning, and José Peraza lined a go-ahead, two-run double that included interference from a visiting fan in the Bronx during a 10-5 Mets stunner.
