U S Army s Precision Strike Missile Flies Almost 250 Miles to Destroy Target

autoevolution 13 May 2021, 11:37 UTC · by 4 photos Things are moving fast for Lockheed Martin’s Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), which started to be developed a few years back, after the Maryland-based company was awarded an Army contract. It looks like the project is going in the right direction, with PrSM completing its longest flight to date. The company announced that the weapon’s most recent test proved successful, as it passed all of the Army’s objectives. The demonstration took place at White Sands Missile Range, in New Mexico, where the missile performed an almost 250 miles (400 km) flight. During the test, the PrSM was fired from a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launcher and flew to the target area, where it completed its neutralizing mission. Some of the elements that were tested include accuracy, range, flight trajectory and warhead lethality. And the PrSm proved that it performs well on all of these.

Army s Precision Strike Missile breaks range record

(Lockheed Martin) WASHINGTON The U.S. Army’s Precision Strike Missile ranged 400 kilometers roughly 250 miles in a test shot at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, on May 12, Lockheed Martin announced. The test marks the farthest the PrSM has flown so far, which is roughly the distance between New York City and Rochester, New York. “We had impressive performance flying more than 400 kilometers in its longest range flown to date at the White Sands Missile Range,” Gaylia Campbell, Lockheed vice president of precision fires and combat maneuver systems, told a group of reporters directly following the test. ”PrSM was fired from a [High Mobility Artillery Rocket System] launcher and it flew with the expected precision to the target area where it once again demonstrated a hi

How the Budget helps Australia fight back against China

Australia will bolster its defence force, provide more funding for its spies and help exporters find new markets in a massive push back against China.  Canberra-Beijing relations have deteriorated since last year when Prime Minister Scott Morrison called for an independent inquiry into the origins of coronavirus which was identified in the Chinese city of Wuhan. China has blocked key Australian exports including coal, seafood, beef and barley - and has been blamed for a series of ongoing cyber attacks on Australian institutions. Some analysts have warned there could be war in the Pacific region in the next five years if China tries to reunify Taiwan by reclaiming the self-governing island of 25 million people.

How the Army s Precision Guided Missiles Will Outrange the Enemy

How the Army s Precision Guided Missiles Will Outrange the Enemy Medium-range land-fired missiles enable Russia to hold NATO countries in Europe at risk, given that they operate at ranges of 500 kilometers or more. But the Army might have the answer. The Army will once again shoot off its emerging Precision Strike Missile, a new 500-kilometer weapon slated to burst onto the operational scene in coming years. It brings an unprecedented blend of attack range, high-tech precision guidance technology, transportability, and speed to modern ground war.  The upcoming launch, slated for May 12 at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., will be just the latest in a series of successful firings of the PrSM missile, a weapon intended to replace and improve upon the existing Army Tactical Missile System land-fired missile.
