By Sajjad Hussain Islamabad, Jan 7 (PTI) Pakistan on Thursday successfully conducted the test-flight of an indigenously developed Guided Multi Launch Rocket System, capable of precisely delivering conventional warheads deep into enemy territory. According to Director General of Pakistan Army, Media Wing, Major General Babar Iftikhar, Fatah-1 weapon system can hit targets up to a range of 140 km. “The Weapon System will give Pakistan Army capability of precision target engagement deep in enemy territory,” said Iftikhar.

A senior US official has reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to a “long-term mutually-beneficial security partnership” with Pakistan after the two countries held strategic-level defence dialogue here the other day.
Pakistan-US strategic level defence dialogue was held on Thursday but the two sides issued separate handouts on Friday. The US delegation was led Assistant Secretary of Defence for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs David Helvey, while the Pakistani side was headed by Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the Chief of General Staff.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the president of the Pakistan Democratic Movement, said on Friday that the opposition would announce its long march after the expiry of January 31 deadline for the government to resign.
âWe had said that the government has time till January 31 to resign,â Fazl said, while speaking to reporters along with PML-Nâs Maryam Nawaz and others.
