Driver indicted for hit-and-run that left teenage bicyclist dead

LANCASTER, N.Y. A Lancaster man is facing eight felony charges in connection with the hit-and-run crash that left one teenager dead and another seriously hurt.
Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn s Office announced the charges Friday morning against 53-year-old Kevin J. Czajka. Investigators say Czajka was driving under the influence of alcohol on August 28, 2020 when he hit two teenage boys riding their bikes around 10 p.m. on Pleasant View Drive.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. A Niagara Falls roofer has pleaded guilty to scamming his customers, according to the Erie County District Attorney s Office.
David Whitman, 31, pleaded guilty on April 1 to one count of scheme to defraud in the first degree, a class E felony.
The District Attorney s Office says between March 30, 2019, and September 10, 2019, Whitman collected $22,000 in deposits from five different customers to perform roof repairs, but he never performed any work on the homes. The victims homes were located in Cheektowaga, Depew, Derby and Williamsville.
According to the District Attorney s Office, Whitman is the sole owner and operator of Whitman Metal and Roofing.

COLDEN, N.Y. (WKBW) â The Erie County District Attorney s Office says a Wyoming County man has been indicted for allegedly assaulting a New York State Trooper in the Town of Colden.
32-year-old Chaz Brzezicki of Strykersville was indicted on the following charges
One count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class âDâ felony)
One count of Driving While Intoxicated (Class âAâ misdemeanor)
One count of Speed Violation (New York State Vehicle & Traffic Law violation)
Brzezicki was allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol at a high-rate of speed when he passed a New York State Trooper on Center Street in the Town of Colden in April 2020.

BUFFALO, N.Y. A Strykersville was indicted Thursday for assaulting a New York State Trooper during an 2020 arrest in the Town of Colden.
The Erie County District Attorney s Office says 32-year-old Chaz Brzezicki faces one felony count of assault, one misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated, and one speed violation. His arraignment took place in State Supreme Court.
Brzezicki faces up to seven years in prison.
The district attorney s office said the incident happened on April 18, 2020. They say he drove at a high rate of speed past a state trooper in Colden at 8:52 a.m..
During the traffic stop, the state trooper said he smelled alcohol and marijuana and saw a pipe containing marijuana in Brzezicki s lap. Brzezicki was accused of not following the trooper s orders before getting out of the vehicle, when he punched the trooper in the face.
The Erie County District Attorney s Office announced Wednesday that a Buffalo man has been charged in the 2019 death of his infant son.
Reginald J. Jordan, 37, is charged with one count of Second Degree Murder and one count of First Degree Manslaughter. If convicted, Jordan faces 25 years in prison.

The case dates back to September 20, 2019. Police say they answered a call of a child not breathing at a home on Grote Street. It was there they found six-month-old King Jordan. The child was taken to Oishei Children s Hospital, where he died two days later.
