“We had 5,000-plus people that applied for the Small Business grants,” she said. “Less than 20% received funding. It’s a pandemic and everyone is struggling. So I believe that that program, or the transparency or the way the funds are allocated, can be made better so that we all can benefit.”

COLLINS A traffic stop that led to Erie County sheriff’s deputies finding crystal methamphetamine, crack cocaine and LSD has led to charges for three individuals.
Around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, the deputy stopped a vehicle on Bagdad Road in the town after observing vehicle and traffic violations. The deputy discovered that 40-year-old Anthony Krepps, a passenger in the vehicle, had an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody, and the operator’s license is suspended.
A subsequent search of the vehicle and its occupants discovered approximately 15 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of crack cocaine, one sheet of LSD, and four Suboxone tabs. Deputies found brass knuckles, a double-sided dagger, multiple drug pipes, and drug paraphernalia in addition to the narcotics. Also seized during the investigation was $5,254.00 in U.S. currency.

Would a measure included in Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposed budget allowing contiguous counties to share jails really help cash-strapped governments become more efficient?
It seems the jury is still out on that one.
The idea to share jails was tucked into the governor’s $193 billion budget proposal and would be accomplished by amending state law. The New York State Association of Counties urged Cuomo’s office last November to give counties the option of sharing jails with one another. His administration had previously showed no interest in the idea but now sees it as a way to help make counties more efficient.
