The second snowmobiler in less than a week has died in Iron County.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a crash at 11:00 Thursday night.
It happened in the Town of Pence.
The Sheriff’s Office said two snowmobiles were driving down the trail. The lead one looked back and saw the second one was no longer behind him.
He turned around and found the other driver crashed and unresponsive.
A 38-year-old Minnesota man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office said it appears the man didn’t make a turn, veered off the trail and hit some trees.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office says they got word of the accident in the Town of Knight around 2:30 p.m.
They determined Albrecht’s sled was leading a small group when it veered off the trail and struck several trees. Despite life-saving efforts, Albrecht died at the scene.

BATES TOWNSHIP An Iron County Road Commission employee died Wednesday after being struck and pinned between vehicles while working as a flagger on Bates-Amasa Road near Shady Lane in Iron County.
An investigation determined a 57-year-old Newald, Wis., man driving a 2005 Ford Ranger pickup truck failed to stop in a marked work zone just after 2 p.m. Wednesday and hit the flagger, pinning him between the truck and the flagger’s road commission vehicle, according to a news release from the Michigan State Police, Iron Mountain Post.
The flagger died at the site. The pickup truck driver was taken by ambulance to Aspirus Hospital in Iron River and later airlifted to Wausau, Wis., for further treatment, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening, the news release stated.
