Two enter guilty pleas in court

GREENVILLE Two people entered guilty pleas in Darke County Common Pleas Court on Monday. Judge Jonathan P. Hein presided.
Vincent J. Veloz, 25, of Celina, entered a guilty plea on one count of burglary, a second-degree felony. As a part of the plea, the original charge of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, was amended to burglary, a second-degree felony. He faces two-to-12 years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000, neither of which are mandatory. He will be sentenced on Monday, Aug. 2.
Russell E. Baker Jr., 42, of Greenville, entered a guilty plea on count two of failure to comply with the order of a peace officer, a third-degree felony. As a part of the plea, count one of domestic violence, a third-degree felony, was dismissed. Baker was sentenced to one year in prison with 59 days credited and his license will be suspended for three years. Upon completion of his jail time, Baker faces a mandatory three years of post-release

GREENVILLE Five people appeared in Darke County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday. Judge Jonathan P. Hein presided.
Clayton C. Garber, 27, of Pleasant Hill, pleaded guilty to one count of menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony. As a part of the plea, a previous charge of vandalism, a fifth-degree felony, was dismissed. The court ordered his ankle monitor be removed and sentenced him to supervision for up to 60 months. He’s required to pay a restitution of $2099 in relation to the dismissed vandalism charge and to follow the protection order that the stalking victim has in place.

GREENVILLE Two people entered guilty pleas in Darke County Common Pleas Court on Monday. Judge Jonathan P. Hein presided.
Bradley O’Connor, of Hollansburg, pleaded guilty to count two of breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony and count three of receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. As a part of the agreement, count one of breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, was dismissed. He faces a restitution of $510, a maximum of 18 months in prison and up to $5,000 fine. He will be sentenced on Monday, July 19.
Eric Cook, of Hollansburg, offered a guilty plea to one count of theft, a fifth-degree felony. Cook submitted a memorandum requesting that he participate in an intervention program in lieu of a conviction. The court will hold the offered guilty plea and upon completion of the intervention program, it will be dismissed. Cook is required to pay restitution of $1,189.29. If he’s unab

GREENVILLE Three people appeared in Darke County Common Pleas Court on Monday. Judge Jonathan P. Hein presided.
Stephen D. Bright, 41, of Piqua, appeared in court via video uplink from the Darke County Jail for a motion to revoke probation, due to a failure to report and violating laws in both Darke County and Montgomery County. Bright was on probation for one count of trafficking heroin, a fifth-degree felony. The court entered a denial on behalf of Bright and has required he retain counsel within 10 days. Bright was released on his own recognizance with his probable cause hearing set for June 7.
