Australian craft brewer Moon Dog Brewing, based in Melbourne, opened its new brewery in October 2019 and subsequently began to explore ways in which it could reduce its carbon footprint. Globally, smaller independent brew pubs and large international beer companies have seen the potential that solar power holds when it comes to offsetting the energy-intensive process of beer-making.
Budweiser owned by AB InBev, signed the largest ever pan-European solar power deal for its 14 breweries spread across Europe in 2020, along with Heineken’s Sol brand committing to brewing with only 100 percent solar energy in the same year. Hot spots such as Australia, Italy, Germany, Singapore, Belgium, the Netherlands and the US are leading the charge when it comes to solarized breweries, and China is predicted to be ‘one to watch’ as the fastest growing market for beer consumption.

White Pine Renewables has completed the Healdsburg Floating Solar Project. The project will deliver clean energy to the City of Healdsburg, Calif., under a 25-year power purchase agreement. At 4.78 MW(dc) and sited on ponds at the city s wastewater treatment plant, the project is the largest floating solar project completed in the United States to date. An example of floating solar provided by Noria Energy
The electricity generated by the project will cover approximately 8% of the city s total energy demand and is an important part of the city s plan to reach 60% renewable energy before 2030. Additionally, siting the solar panels on the ponds avoids using land for the project and will reduce evaporation and algae growth, benefitting the surrounding vineyards that rely on the treated water for irrigation.
Wednesday, 03 March 2021 Using solar energy can drastically reduce your monthly energy bills. The average homeowner reports that solar panels help them save $47 to $187 per month on electricity costs. With solar panels, you’re also becoming more energy efficient by reducing your dependency on fossil fuels. Courtesy of NREL
But, you’ll need to do a little calculating before you can enjoy the many benefits of having solar panels on your home. Here are four steps to help you calculate the number of solar panels you’ll need.
1. See How Much Electricity You Use Now
The first thing to do is to calculate how much energy you’re currently using. Chances are, your house uses more electricity during some months over others. By taking a yearly estimate, you’ll have a clear idea of your home’s long-term energy usage. You might also consider having an electrician with training from an electrical school help with this step.
Six major utilities have a plan to ensure that electric vehicle drivers have access to a seamless network of charging stations connecting major highway systems from the Atlantic Coast, through the Midwest and South, and into the Gulf and Central Plains regions.
The Electric Highway Coalition – made up of American Electric Power, Dominion Energy, Duke Energy, Entergy Corp., Southern Co., and the Tennessee Valley Authority – announced a plan to provide EV drivers seamless travel across major regions of the country through a network of DC fast chargers for EVs. The companies are each taking steps to provide EV charging solutions within their service territories. This represents an unprecedented effort to offer convenient EV charging options across different company territories and allow EV travel without interruption.
Tuesday, 02 March 2021 Separate food waste collections will become mandatory in England from 2023, meaning that local authorities will need to put in place the structure for that now if they are going to be ready for the 2023 deadline, but according to the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) they also need to be properly funded in order to make this possible without delay. In its annual monitoring report, published last week, the National Infrastructure Commission reiterated its recommendation - first made in its 2018 National Infrastructure Assessment - to “enable separate food waste collection for households and business for biogas production”. In 2017, the UK Government made separate food waste collection mandatory in England by 2023 as part of its Resources and Waste Management Strategy.
