In the first eight months since acquiring the City of Rosiclare water production system and wastewater system, Illinois American Water has invested approximately $1.1 million in upgrades. These projects are part of the company’s commitment to invest $5 million in the first five years of ownership.
Mike Brown, operations superintendent, explained, “Illinois American Water continuously makes improvements to support safety, efficiencies and water quality. We take great pride in delivering drinking water which not only meets Environmental Protection Agency standards but is better than required. Our customers deserve the best product possible.”
Work completed at the water treatment plant includes upgrading security and implementing new technology to support reliability. Structural improvements were made to improve employee safety and security. High service pumps have been procured and will be installed
Young artists win Illinois American Water s annual art contest

Young artists across Illinois participated in Illinois American Water s annual art contest to illustrate the importance of reliable water service. Entries from third- to fifth-grade students captured what water service means to them. Of the many entries received, Illinois American Water chose 15 winners who earned their classrooms a $100 donation.

Illinois American Water offers the contest in conjunction with the Value of Water Coalition s annual Imagine a Day Without Water event to raise awareness about the value of water service.

With extremely cold temperatures expected in the coming days, Illinois American Water is reminding homeowners to take steps to prevent frozen pipes. These tips can also help protect the local water team as they perform critical work for reliable, safe water service.
Customers should:
Allow a small trickle of water to run overnight to keep pipes from freezing. Customers should consider collecting the water for later use such as watering indoor plants and more. The cost of a short-term trickle is much less costly than a repair to a burst pipe.

For more than a decade, Illinois American Water has awarded environmental grants to diverse initiatives across Illinois.
According to Illinois American Water President Justin Ladner, “more than $247,000 has been contributed to 74projects since the program began in 2009.” He said, “At Illinois American Water we know how precious our water resources are, and we want to do our part to protect the environment. Our efforts include green practices like recycling, using solar to generate power, partnering with farmers to apply residuals and biosolids, wise water use education, and more. We are excited to also partner with local environmental heroes to improve, protect, and restore watersheds.”
