Nonprofit group Insight Chicago officially took over as the new owner of Bronzeville’s Mercy Hospital Monday, and has reached an agreement with the city to operate it as a full-service hospital at least until 2029.
A spokeswoman for the hospital’s new owner disagreed, saying Mercy will continue as a full-service community hospital through 2029, "and no one will ever be denied service because of their inability to pay."
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board Wednesday issued an Intent to Deny an application by Quincy Medical Group to open a small-format hospital.
