National Guard Sgt based in Galesburg arrested for sexual assault

March 31, 2021 Illinois State Police have arrested a Sergeant with the Illinois Army National Guard stationed in Galesburg two counts of Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault. 32-year-old Timothy Nichols of Dahinda was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Knox County Jail Wednesday, although Nichol posted a $10,000 bond and was released. Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin approved the charges after reviewing with State Police found in their investigation according to an ISP release. ISP District 2 was first notified back on January 8, 2020, of an allegation of Criminal Sexual Abuse against Nichols. The charges filed indicated that he displayed, threatened to use, or used a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm, in the commission of the crime.

The Illinois State Police say it was notified by the Illinois National Guard on January 8, 2020, of allegations against 32-year-old Timothy Nichols. After an investigation by the ISP, the Knox County State s Attorney s office approved two charges of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony, and one charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 Felony. Nichols, of Dahinda, was taken into custody but posted $10,000 bond and was released. No other information on the allegations or investigation was provided by the Illinois State Police.

ISP arrests National Guardsman based on Galesburg for sexual assault Star Courier The Illinois State Police this week announced the arrest of Timothy Nichols, a sergeant with the Illinois Army National Guard (ILANG), located in Galesburg, for sexual assault. Nichols, 32 years old, of Dahinda, IL, has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. On January 8, 2020, the ISP was notified by the ILANG of an allegation of criminal sexual abuse against Nichols. On March 31, 2021, after a thorough investigation by the ISP DII investigators, the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office approved two counts of criminal sexual assault (Class 1 Felony) and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse (Class 2 Felony). Nichols was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Knox County Jail where he posted a $10,000 bond and was released from custody.
