Illinois Extension will host their annual update on new legislation

To help local officials understand expectations and prepare for potential budget changes, University of Illinois Extension hosts presenters from Illinois Association of County Board Members in a free online webinar Jan. 12,  beginning at noon (CT). “Legislative updates kick off every new year of programming with Illinois Extension s Local Government Education webinar series. The previous year’s legislation has made its way into local budgets by December in many Illinois counties,” says Nancy Ouedraogo, community and economic development specialist at Illinois Extension. “The goal of our annual state legislative update is to help officials plan for operation and implementation of policy changes at departmental levels.”

Jacksonville Business Has $400,000 in Aid Made Available

Struggling small businesses in Jacksonville can tap into nearly $400,000 in direct financial support that is now available. However, business owners need to act quickly as applications need to be turned in by next Monday. Economic support payments for qualified brick-and-mortar businesses are being made possible by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The City of Jacksonville will provide the payments directly, which are funded through the Local CURE Economic Support Payments Grant Program.

Grant program offered for businesses Samantha McDaniel-Ogletree FacebookTwitterEmail Pandemic-affected Jacksonville businesses can apply for assistance through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Local CURE Economic Support Payments Grant program. The program will provide grants of up to $10,000. Eligible businesses are restaurants and bars and indoor recreation- or event-related businesses that experienced at least a 25% decrease in revenue from March 1 to Dec. 30. Businesses must be able to prove revenue loss. The grant can be used for such things as payroll, mortgage or rent, utilities or certain expenses related to making the business safe for employees and customers. Applications for the grant are available through the city of Jacksonville website. Questions about the program can be directed to the city’s treasurer’s office at 217-479-3512 or mhall@jacksonvilleil.gov.
