Police identify woman killed in Rock Falls apartment building fire

By Julia Bertino Mar 9, 2021 (Rock Falls, IL) A woman killed in a Friday night Rock Falls apartment fire is being identified. Rock Falls Police say 59 year old Eunice Karr was killed in the fire at Civic Plaza I. Crews responded to a report of a fire around 9:45 Friday night in the 1100 block of 5th Avenue. The nine-story apartment building is occupied by more than 100 residents who have been displaced due to the fire. Most of them are elderly and handicapped residents. An investigation for the cause of the fire is being conducted by the Illinois Fire Marshal’s office with the assistance of Rock Falls Police and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.

Schmidt, sschmidt@thetelegraph.com Dec. 11, 2020 FacebookTwitterEmail 5of5 HARDIN Three people have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and obstructing justice after a Calhoun County deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The charges were filed after Calhoun County Deputy Zach Hardin conducted a traffic stop on Childs Street near Park Street in Hardin. The deputy stopped the car as the Sheriff’s Office was performing extra patrols after receiving several reports in early December of vehicle burglaries and a vehicle theft in Hardin.

The 3 were arrested on multiple charges in Calhoun linked to multiple house and car burglaries in the area. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department has issued a warning to area residents after a recent arrest in Hardin. On December 1 st, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department received multiple reports of vehicle burglaries and a motor vehicle theft in the Village of Hardin. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services. Throughout the following week, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office conducted extra patrol in an attempt to thwart any future crimes.
