Man claims he was sold Farmers Group insurance agency at inflated price

BELLEVILLE The buyer of a Farmers Group insurance agency claims the company fraudulently sold him the business at an inflated price.  Steve Junge filed a complaint May 12 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Farmers Group Inc., Jeff Floweree, Elizabeth Louis and Jason Tuck, alleging fraud and violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Junge alleges in his complaint that the Farmers Group, through the other defendants, carried out a bait and switch fraud scheme by persuading him to buy a Farmers Insurance agency in March 2017, which he claims was not a viable business, at inflated prices. Specifically, Junge alleges the defendants controlled the market for buying their agencies and restricted choices for prospective buyers and falsely told him he could expect to net $100,000 in the first year and up to $140,000 by his third year. Casino Queen directors allege insurer obligated to defend suit over stock sales

Norwood BELLEVILLE Directors and agents of Casino Queen claim their insurer has failed to abide by their defense obligations in an underlying suit alleging the insureds sold $170 million in stock for less than fair market value.  Timothy J. Rand, Charles Bidwill, III and James Koman filed a complaint (and part 2)  May 14 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against RSUI Indemnity Company Inc., and CQ Holding Company Inc., alleging breach of contract, violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and violation of the Deceptive Business Practices Act.  According to the plaintiffs complaint, CQ Holdings and its insured were issued a private company management liability policy by RSUI, which provided coverage for $3 million and an aggregate policy limit of $9 million with CQ Holding paying a $75,000 retention amount.  The plaintiffs allege a class action was filed against the defendants and other directors and agents of the Casino Queen in April

BELLEVILLE A retired Edwardsville couple claims Consumer Law Protection Lawyers and others fraudulently sold them services to get them out of their timeshare contract.  Ronald D. Kohlmiller and Theresa Kohmiller filed a complaint (and part 2) May 13 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Consumer Law Protection LLC, Resort Transfer Group LLC, doing business as Consumer Law Protection Lawyers, Square One Development Group Inc., Premier Reservation Group LLC, Island Hospitality Group LLC and others, alleging violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act.  The Kohlomillers allege in their complaint that they were subject to a high-pressure sales presentation from the defendants on Aug. 5, 2020, regarding timeshare termination. Goldenberg EDWARDSVILLE A woman claims Illinois-based lender AAA Community Finance charged excessive interest rates and does business without a license.  Terrie Luster, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint May 13 in the Madison County Circuit Court against JRE Financial LLC, doing business as AAA Community Finance, alleging violation of the Consumer Installment Loan Act and Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, unjust enrichment and engaging in lending business without a license. According to the complaint, Luster was issued a loan by AAA in August 2020 for $475 with an annual percentage rate of 786.72% which is greater than the maximum of 99% allowed by Illinois law. She alleges that she made regular payments on the loan and eventually paid $1,400 to AAA before she stopped making payments.
