From my 50+ years in this world, whenever someone, or a group of someones, point to one thing and start screaming armageddon I immediately and permanently put them in the “pay no attention to” folder.
If the goal is to have harsh racial underpinnings, then what will continue is this premise that the divide in race is found in all facets, including systemic and institutional racism, and “welcoming” that in discussions.

The association is handing out more than $58,000 in college scholarships for the 2021-22 academic year.
Recipients must be a permanent Illinois Resident; must use the scholarship at an Illinois college or school; and students must be enrolled in an Illinois school as a full-time student during the 2021-2022 school year (excluding summer).
Applications are available at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, 405 Randle St., Edwardsville; or on the ISA website at https://www.ilsheriff.org/youth-2. Students must complete the applications, answer the essay questions and return all documentation to the sheriff’s office in the county they live in by March 15.

SPRINGFIELD The Illinois Senate passed a criminal justice omnibus bill around 4 a.m. Wednesday after a grueling 20 hours of politicking during Tuesday’s lame duck session.
The legislation is made up of several provisions that touch all facets of the criminal justice system. The Pretrial Fairness Act, a longtime passion project to end cash bail in Illinois by Sen. Robert Peters, D-Chicago, and a complete overhaul of police certification crafted by Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul were both absorbed into the omnibus package.
The legislation, an initiative of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus, was tied to a new amendment to House Bill 3653, introduced in the early-morning hours Wednesday following mostly private negotiations that stripped down many controversial provisions in the bill.
