Rotaract Club gives to relief efforts Article by May 1, 2021 On April 8, 2021, following significant seismic activity, the La Soufrière volcano in the neighbouring islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines experienced the first of a continued series of explosive eruptions. In response to the adverse effects of these eruptions, the Rotaract Club of Barbados decided to take a three-pronged approach to relief efforts which included a clothing and water drive, donation of sanitary products and child care items and a cash donation, between April 12 and 24. Over this period, through contributions from its members and partners in service, the Club raised over BDS$5,000.00 which was divided between each of the three phases.

(GP) Social Share Members of the Rotaract Club of Barbados have been busy over the past few weeks gathering relief supplies for the people of St Vincent following the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano. The Club has diligently been able to raise more than $5 000 and negotiate the donation of clean water and other essentials. “The first phase of the relief efforts was focused on the donation of clothing and clean water through a partnership with Vincentians and other partners of Oxygen Mas Band in Barbados,” a media release from the Club said.

Theobalds and Sealy are Barbados new CARICOM Youth Ambassadors

Newly appointed CARICOM Youth Ambassadors, Java Sealy (left) and Meghan Theobalds (right) Barbados has two new CARICOM Youth Ambassadors – Meghan Theobalds and Java Sealy – who will serve for the period February 1, 2021, to July 31, 2022. As part of their duties, Ambassadors Theobalds and Sealy will engage in advocacy, outreach and peer-to-peer education locally, with support from the Division of Youth Affairs (DYA).   They will also be contributing to technical and policymaking meetings convened by CARICOM organs and institutions and partner agencies.  Theobalds holds a Bachelor’s in Management and Organisational Studies and is currently pursuing a Masters in (Regional) Integration Studies at the University of the West Indies.
