The UK is set to announce details of the countries included on its Green, Amber and Red lists today and UAE residents pondering summer travel plans are eagerly awaiting more information.
Further details on which countries will be in each category have yet to be released, but the anticipation of possible summer travel to the UK or to Europe – where the same topic is also being discussed – is much welcome for many in the Emirates after 14 months of border closures, travel restrictions and quarantine requirements impacting plans.
Challenges remain in terms of vaccination rates and how travellers might prove their vaccinated status, but there is a growing appetite from travellers who are keen to get back in the air.

Israel will reopen the country in May to some vaccinated foreign tourists, more than a year after closing its borders to most international visitors due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Inbound tourism to Israel will resume May 23, 2021, initially for six countries: Cyprus, Greece, The U.K., Spain, Austria, and Germany. The pilot program’s phase 1 will begin with groups at first as they will be easier to monitor. Individual travelers are expected to be allowed in at a later stage.
“After opening the economy, it is time to allow tourism in a careful and calculated manner,” Health Minister Yuli Edelstein said in a joint statement with the Tourism Ministry.
