Mapping Research and Innovation in the Republic of Mozambique

  A new report on research and innovation in Mozambique was launched on 18 February by UNESCO, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Government of Mozambique. It is the 9th volume of UNESCO’s Global Observatory of Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Instruments (GO-SPIN) country profiles series. The publication is the result of a joint effort by UNESCO and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to support Member States in strengthening national Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) systems and build robust, evidence-based and inclusive STI policies. The publication “Mapping Research and Innovation in the Republic of Mozambique”, available in English and Portuguese, describes the STI landscape in Mozambique and identify areas for strategic investment in STI in the country. The study provides evidence and data for the revision of the national STI policy and strategy, as part of the country’s transition from a low-income country to a lower middle-income status. I

PHOTO/ALEX ESAGALA Advertisement The titular head of the Muslim community in Uganda, Prince Kassim Nakibinge, has flagged off the construction of Kibuli Muslim Tower for the Uganda Muslim Education Association (Umea). “The building is going to cost Shs38b and will provide for both residential houses and a commercial complex. The project is funded by Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) from Saudi Arabia under the supervision of Dolsar Limited, the Turkish consultant company,” Mr Nakibinge said at the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the contractors Vcon Construction Uganda Limited and Ambitious Construction Limited at his residence in Kibuli yesterday.

IsDB and ICD Sign Agency Agreement to Implement R2 COVID Support Line of Finance 14/02/2021 Share Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 14 February 2021 –  President of Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Dr. Bandar Hajjar, and CEO of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), Mr. Ayman Sejiny, have put their signatures to an Agency Agreement for the implementation of IsDB Group’s R2 COVID Support Package, which will assist IsDB Group Member Countries to restore their economies and recover from the negative impacts resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Agency Agreement is a manifestation of the IsDB President’s vision to improve intra-group collaboration and create room for cooperation with other multilateral development banks (MDBs) and international finance institutions (IFIs).
