Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Food Security, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema on Friday said the federal government would give loans to youth for food processing to cater the food needs of the country.
Addressing a seminar entitled, “Agriculture Transformation Plan, a Vision of Prime Minister” at Islamia University Bahawalpur here he said they would not cater the food needs of the country without promoting food processing. “Our food production has not been fulfilling the total food needs of the country,” he said adding, therefore the federal government had decided to give loans to youth and other stakeholders to initiate food processing.

MULTAN: Punjab Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar has said that the parties in the PDM are not sincere with each other and claimed that there is no threat to the government from opposition.
Talking to journalists at Multan Circuit House after laying foundation stone of 72 projects of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority and rehabilitation of 11 filtration plants in collaboration with welfare organizations, the Punjab governor said that the opposition demanded elections, but when the government invited them to negotiate electoral reforms, they run away.

Justice Bhatti to serve as LHC chief justice for 32 months

ISLAMABAD: The new Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Muhammad Ameer Bhatti, will hold the top slot for 32 months unless he is elevated to the Supreme Court before his retirement.
He will be superannuated on March 7, 2024 after attaining the constitutional retirement age for high court judges of 62. If he is elevated to the apex court before his retirement, he will have three additional years.
Following Justice Bhatti’s elevation as the LHC chief justice, Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan has become the puisne judge. He will become the LHC head after the retirement of Justice Bhatti and will serve till March 14, 2025. Justice Shujaat Ali Khan is now at number three of the seniority list of LHC judges.
PM appealed for taking notice of making secretariat at IUB

LAHORE: Academic Staff Association (ASA) of the Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) has appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of the efforts for making South Punjab Secretariat at the Abbasia Campus of the IUB.
In a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Punjab Governor/Chancellor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Punjab Minister of Higher Education Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz, IUB-ASA General Secretary Dr Syed Safdar Hussain observed that the Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf government had come to power on the slogan of making universities in government buildings.
“However, the attempt to make South Punjab Secretariat at the Abbasia Campus of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur would be the exact opposite by giving university buildings to the bureaucracy.”
