Letters: Brexit's done so it's time to rant about something else

Don't miss letters in the Swindon Advertiser each day. Time to rant about something else I don’t know dear reader if, like me you find the never ending exchange of rants between Messers Morgan and Cowdrey a waste of a page in a paper? We are suffering the effects of the greatest pandemic since the Black Plague, the world trembles at the Russian and Chinese aggression and vast swathes of forest are being devastated in order to produce Palm Oil yet these two dominate the pages with argument and counter argument regarding Brexit. For pity’s sake give us a rest from the continual battering! There is plenty to discuss around the town, the potholes, road alterations in Stratton, the absolute mess of traffic control going into GWH at 8/9 in the morning.

Meet the candidates standing in Mannington and Western

LOCAL ELECTIONS Clockwise from top left: Suresh Gattapur (Conservative), Kevin Small (Labour), Deborah Fine (Independent), Deborah King (Liberal Democrat) and Nicky Iddon (Green) are standing alongside Ian Baxter (The For Britain Movement) in Mannington and Western Traffic is an issue all over Swindon – but in few places does it provoke such passion as in Mannington and Western and, in particular, Rodbourne.  The area includes the popular Designer Outlet – but the retail venue's success has come with a heavy price. Queues of cars trying to get into the centre at weekends, particularly during busy shopping times like November and December and for special events, cause very long tailbacks. Many neighbours describe how they have felt trapped in their own homes, or say they have had to restrict their activities to avoid trying to drive to or from their property on certain days.

OakNorth Bank: Lender trails new housing developments in Blackburn and Burnley

Housing: Building has been underway in Garstang with potential new developments on the horizon in Blackburn and Burnley A NORTH West lender has revealed plans to fund potential new housing developments across East Lancashire. OakNorth Bank, which has lent to a range of house builders across the region, hopes to build on its recent success financing a new set of homes in Garstang with fresh developments in Blackburn and Burnley. For senior debt finance director Chris Swarbrick, this is a sign of how the company has made the most of the challenges posed by the pandemic, with bigger high street banks pulling away from the market making space for firms like OakNorth.
