There are a couple of things about the Liga Privada Único Serie Year of the Ox that catch my attention: the gold foil is the first and most obvious, though easily the least worthy of discussion beyond its crinkly texture. The purple and gold foot band is the next on my list; the purple feels new for a Liga Privada release, and the gold used differs just enough from the foil to be noticeable. Finally, the script on the primary band also feels just a bit different from other Liga Privada releases that it makes me wonder about the font selection. After spending a bit processing those things, I assess how to remove the trio. They would seemingly slide off neatly as one unit on the first cigar, though I need the primary band left on for photos. Joya de Nicaragua Announces Return of Two Número Uno Vitolas
Joya de Nicaragua has announced that it will be bringing back two of the vitolas in its Número Uno line for a limited release this summer.
The Joya de Nicaragua Número Uno L’Ambassadeur, a 6 5/8 x 44 lonsdale, and the Joya de Nicaragua Número Uno Le Premier, a 6 7/8 x 48 Churchill, will be back on store shelves this August. Both cigars feature the same blend, using an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers.
The L’Ambassadeur has an MSRP of $15.75 per cigar, while Le Premier is priced at $16.95 per cigar. Both are offered in 25-count boxes.
Drew Estate Announces Undercrown Dojo Dogmas Returning for 2021
Continuing the buildup to its May 6 “Freestyle Live: Special Edition” online event, Drew Estate has announced that both the Undercrown Dojo Dogma Sun Grown and Undercrown Dojo Dogma Maduro will be returning for 2021 releases and available exclusively through Drew Diplomat Program retailers.
The Undercrown Dojo Dogma Maduro was first released in 2014 in celebration of Cigar Dojo’s first anniversary, and is a blend based on the Undercrown ¡Corona Viva! It uses a Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper, a Connecticut stalk-cut and stalk-cured habano binder, with the filler consisting of Nicaraguan habano and Brazilian mata fina leaves. It is offered in a box-pressed 6 x 56 toro gordo vitola and packaged in 10-count wooden boxes that have an MSRP of $112, which works out to $11.20 per cigar.
Herrera Estelí Limited Edition Lanceros Returning This Summer
Another round of Herrera Estelí Lanceros will be arriving on the shelves of Drew Diplomat Program retailers this summer.
Today, the company announced that the Herrera Estelí Connecticut Broadleaf Lancero is scheduled to begin shipping in June, while the Herrera Estelí Habano Lancero will be available in August. Both cigars measure 7 x 38 and are offered in 15-count boxes with an MSRP of $194.24, or about $12.95 per cigar.
“Lanceros are certainly not as popular as large ring gauge cigars, but they have a cult following amongst the most educated cigar geeks who love majestic capa leaf, what I call the ‘oro’ of the plant,” said Jonathan Drew via a press release. “Everyone knows that Willy blends spectacular lanceros.”
