According to U-Haul data analyzing migration patterns in 2020, Colorado ranked No. 6 among states for growth. “Colorado is the biggest mover of any state on the list, catapulting 36 spots from its number 42 growth ranking of 2019,” said Andrea Batchelor, U-Haul spokesperson. “People coming to Colorado in one-way U-Haul trucks increased more than 3% during the past year, while departures dropped by more than 1% from 2019.” U-Haul Company of Southern Colorado President Dave Hellmers has served in his role for seven years and has seen the boom in Southern Colorado during the past five years. “With telecommuting everything is so different,” Hellmers said. “People are going where they want to be they can work and live where they can have fun, go boating or hiking and Southern Colorado offers all of that.”

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) U-Haul Company confirmed Thursday that it has purchased the former Kmart building in La Crosse. U-Haul Company of Southwestern Wisconsin and Rockford president Adam Sonnleitner said the company had purchased the building at 2415 State Road, according to a company spokesperson. The spokesperson said U-Haul plans to open a temporary retail showroom in January with a limited stock of moving supplies and are in talks with the city of La Crosse as about a facility for self-storage and U-Haul truck and trailer sharing.

Safety-Service Director Steve Wetz was the only vote in favor Wednesday, with Mayor Josh Schlicher, Chairman Jeff Paugstat and Member Jeff Campbell voting against and Member Jeff Adkins absent.
