Akron police are searching for the suspect in a deadly Sunday morning shooting in the city’s Middlebury neighborhood.
The shooting occurred in the 800 block of Hazel Street at 3:40 a.m. Sunday, according to a police report.
Police arrived at the private residence to find a 26-year-old man in a private driveway with an apparent gunshot wound to the neck. The man, whose name is being withheld pending an autopsy Monday, was pronounced dead at Summa Akron City Hospital.
Police say the suspect was gone before they arrived. A SWAT team searched a nearby home but could not locate the suspect, who is still at large.

AKRON, Ohio A man sitting on a bench in a downtown park was killed when another man walked up from behind and shot the victim, police say.
Randall Lee Proctor, 58, of Akron, was found on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head by police officers in Grace Park just before 5 p.m. Saturday, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office. Proctor was pronounced dead at Summa Health Akron City Hospital.
Police detectives say the victim was sitting on a park bench when an unknown suspect approached him from behind and shot him.
