Car crashes into garage, bursts into flames, killing driver
AKRON, Ohio (AP) A car hit a pole and a sign, then crashed into the garage of an Ohio home and caught fire, killing the driver, authorities said.
The Akron police department said the westbound car went out of control and struck a utility pole and a stop sign at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.
The car then plowed into the garage of a home in the neighborhood, coming to rest on top of an unoccupied car inside the garage, and burst into flames with the driver trapped inside. Police said the 34-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Akron Police Department is investigating today after a fatal accident in which a vehicle struck several objects, crashed into a garage, and later caught fire killing the driver of the vehicle.
According to police, the incident happened around 2:20 a.m. Saturday when a Chevrolet Corvette was traveling westbound on Russell Avenue. Officials believe the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole before continuing westbound, where the car also struck a stop sign and eventually ran into the garage of a home on Manning Avenue.

AKRON, Ohio A man sitting on a bench in a downtown park was killed when another man walked up from behind and shot the victim, police say.
Randall Lee Proctor, 58, of Akron, was found on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head by police officers in Grace Park just before 5 p.m. Saturday, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office. Proctor was pronounced dead at Summa Health Akron City Hospital.
Police detectives say the victim was sitting on a park bench when an unknown suspect approached him from behind and shot him.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A 58-year-old man died after he was shot in the head while sitting on a park bench Saturday, Akron police said.
Akron police said they arrived at Grace Park, located at 201 Park Street, around 4:55 p.m. Saturday for a possible shooting.
Officers found Randall Lee Proctor, of Akron, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound in his head.
