Court report: Week of Jan 4

According to the Summit County Attorney’s Office, the following cases were heard on Monday, Jan. 4, in 3rd District Court at the Summit County Justice Center. Haydon Brett Woolsey, 27, of Coalville, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, a class A misdemeanor, and assault, a class B misdemeanor. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 25. Laura Jean Ash, 60, of Coalville, was sentenced for the offense of DUI, a third-degree felony. The court placed the defendant on supervised probation for 36 months and ordered the defendant to serve 62 1/2 days in jail, pay a $2,910 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions. The court also imposed a suspended sentence of zero to five years at the Utah State Prison.

Kerry Scott Moser, 64, of Morgan, pleaded guilty to impaired driving, a class B misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay a $1,430 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions. The court also imposed a suspended 180-day jail sentence. William Wyatte Dean, 58, of Salt Lake City, was sentenced for the offense of DUI, a third-degree felony. The court placed the defendant on supervised probation for 36 months and ordered the defendant to serve 62.5 days in jail with credit for four days served, to pay a $2,910 fine and to complete other standard terms and conditions. The court also imposed a suspended sentence of zero to five years at the Utah State Prison.

A 37-year-old Texas woman said she was accosted for not wearing a mask in a public locker room at the Canyons Resort base area, according to a report from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. The woman reported that she and several of her friends were changing out of their ski gear on Thursday when the 63-year-old Midway man yelled and swore at them to put masks on, according to the report. She said he hit her on the arm with his gloves and attempted to kick a second woman as he passed by. The man denied hitting anyone, and deputies indicated the Summit County Attorney’s Office would screen the case for charges.

According to the Summit County Attorney’s Office, the following cases were heard on Monday, Dec. 14, in 3rd District Court at the Summit County Justice Center. Nicholas Walker Taylor, 27, of Springville, pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a controlled substance, a class B misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance, a class B misdemeanor. The court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months and ordered the defendant to complete standard terms and conditions. The court also imposed a suspended 180-day jail sentence on each count. Those sentences would run concurrently. Connor Patton Whitworth, 19, of Park City, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, both third-degree felonies. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 25.

Woman Arrested, More Than Once, For Actions Against Ex-Boyfriend In Kamas

Credit Summit County Sheriff s Office A Salt Lake woman has been charged by the Summit County Attorney’s Office after allegedly ramming her ex-boyfriend with her car.   The woman has since been arrested for another incident at her ex’s home in South Summit. A charge of Aggravated Assault, a Third Degree Felony, was filed against 49-year-old Judith Stacy Cluff. A Sheriff’s report said that Cluff was in a relationship with the victim, a 57-year-old Kamas resident, until he evicted her about six months ago. The victim said that on Dec. 4th, she showed up uninvited at his home near State Road 32 in order to pick up some items.    He said he helped her move the items, hoping to get her out of his life.    The suspect became upset, yelled profanities, and threw a soda can at a friend of the victim.
