India set to export rice to the Philippines after reduction of import duty to 35%

In 2020-21, India’s rice exports almost doubled to an all-time high of 17.7 metric tonnes from 9.5 metric tonne in the previous financial year. There was an almost 4% increase in basmati exports to 4.45 metric tonnes and a 160% surge in non-basmati rice exports to 13.09 metric tonnes, according to data with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority.

India’s rice exporters are gearing up to ship the grain to the Philippines from next month as the Southeast Asian nation has reduced the import duty on rice being shipped from India to 35% from 50%. Philippines is the second-largest importer of the commodity in the world.
India set to harvest record rice, wheat crops in 2020-21
India, the world’s second-largest producer and biggest exporter of rice, is likely to harvest a record 121.46 million mt of grains in 2020-21, up 2.2% from the previous year, the country’s agriculture ministry said May 25.
India’s crop year for major crops run from July through June.
With the likely record output during the year, the export prices of Indian rice may decline, a Delhi-based trader said.
During 2020-21, India exported 13.1 million mt of rice so far, as against 5.1 million mt in 2019-20, data from Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority showed.
Karnataka exports organic jackfruit products to Germany ANI | Updated: May 25, 2021 20:42 IST
New Delhi [India], May 25 (ANI): A consignment of 10.20 Metric Tonnes MT of value-added products of organically certified gluten-free jackfruit powder and retort packed jackfruit cubes were exported to Germany from Bengaluru on Tuesday via sea route.
The jackfruit has been processed in the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) assisted packhouse owned by Phalada Agro Research Foundations (PARF), Bengaluru. APEDA registered PARF represents a group of 1500 farmers with a wide coverage of around 12,000 acres farms. These farmers grow medicinal and aromatic herbs, coconut, jackfruit, mango puree products, spices and Coffee, an official statement said.
