These Frontline Workers In Telangana Will Get First COVID Vaccine Shots Jan 07, 2021, 11:09 IST
HYDERABAD: The government has devised their COVID-19 vaccine plan. According to the plan, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be administering the vaccine shots first to frontline workers. Around 70,000 to 75,000 frontline workers in all the urban local bodies (ULBs) of the State could be qualified for the vaccination.
Initially 29,000 workers including health experts, medical officers, sanitary workers and others have been selected. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) released guidelines for the immunization process and gave nine categories for the municipal workers. The workers falling in these categories will be eligible for vaccination. The categories include health care workers, sanitation staff and others.

GHMC said in a press statement on Wednesday that citizens may henceforth apply for birth and death certificates through Mee Seva centres in the city.
Till January 1, the certificates were being issued only through GHMC’s citizen service centres.
The system has been revamped to designate Assistant Municipal Commissioners of various circles as sub-registrars, and authorising them for issue of birth and death certificates. As per the new system, circle will be considered a unit instead of ward, the statement said.
Applications within 30 days of birth or death will be scrutinised and the certificates will be issued by AMCs, while Assistant Medical Officers of Health (AMOH) will process the applications after 30 days.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this includes 43 new cases reported today.
This raised the to-date confirmed cases among healthcare workers in the country to 1,771, he said in a statement.
Below are five groups of healthcare workers with the highest number of Covid-19 infections since the pandemic hit the country in January:
·Nurses with 690 cases
·Healthcare Assistants with 146 cases
·Assistant Medical Officers with 144 cases
·Graduate Medical Officers with 84 cases
As to the source of infections, Dr Noor Hisham said 587 of healthcare workers were infected by the community, 565 cases from transmissions among colleagues, 152 from patients who had not yet been diagnosed with Covid-19, and 58 from unknown cases. 409 cases are still under investigations.
