UTICA, N.Y. – Utica police have identified the man killed on Howard Avenue Wednesday night as 30-year-old Martin Martinez, of Utica.
According to police, Martinez was involved in an altercation on the 1400 block of Howard Avenue while he was driving a vehicle. Shots were fired, and officers were called to the scene around 7:40 p.m.
Martinez drove a short distance before crashing into a telephone pole. Officers found him inside the vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Two men are facing charges after another man died last night in a gunfire exchange in Utica, police said.
No one has been charged with killing a 30-year-old man yet in the Wednesday night homicide on Howard Avenue, the Utica Police Department said in a news release. But two men were charged in connection with the shoot-out and police continue to investigate, police said.
Multiple people called 911 to report a gun fight around 7:40 p.m. on the 1400 block of Howard Avenue in Utica, police said.
Investigators learned that people inside and outside of a vehicle were firing shots at each other, police said.

Utica, N.Y. Utica police say they are investigating the homicide of a 17-year-old boy shot and killed early Monday.
Jahzeir Johnson, of Utica, was found shot in the 1400 block of City Street shortly after midnight, police said.
Officers were dispatched to City Street to investigate reports of a male shot. When they arrived, they found Johnson lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

UTICA, N.Y. Utica Police are investigation a shooting on the 1300 block of Mary Street on Monday evening.
Utica Police say they were dispatched to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital around 8:40 p.m. regarding a walk-in gunshot victim. When they got there, they were directed to a woman who was located in one of the trauma rooms. She had one gunshot wound to her mid-back area.
Police say the shooting happened on the 1300 block of Mary St. The woman was seated in a vehicle and was struck by gunfire. She was then immediately transported to the hospital where she remains in stable condition.
