Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Wednesday said that proper care and alert was crucial to prevent bird flu or avian influenza from spreading any further as the diseases can be transmitted to humans from birds.
DEHRADUN : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has apologised to Congress leader Indira Hridayesh on behalf of the state BJP president who had made derogatory remarks against her.
Uttarakhand BJP president Bansidhar Bhagat had referred to Hridayesh, who is Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, as “arre budiya,” derogatorily calling her an “old woman”.
“Behan ji, I am extremely sorry today. We respect women and hold them in high esteem. I personally apologise to you and to all those who are hurt,” Rawat tweeted in Hindi late Tuesday night.
“Tomorrow, I will talk to you personally and again ask for forgiveness,” he said.
Rawat tweeted at around 1 am in the morning on Wednesday, saying that he is very sad to hear about the remarks made against Hridayesh and will call her to make a personal apology

New Delhi [India], January 6 (ANI): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will attend an outreach and familiarisation programme for Panchayati Raj Institutions of the country at Dehradun on January 8.
The programme is being organised with a view to introducing Panchayat Members to the functioning of the Parliament and to provide them with an exposure to the democratic principles and ethos.
Besides Birla, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Speaker Prem Chand Aggarwal and other dignitaries will be attending the inaugural function.
The theme of the programme is Panchayati Raj System: Strengthening the Decentralised Democracy .
