Shivalik Mercantile Co-operative Bank has commenced operations as a small finance bank with effect from April 26, 2021, says RBI in a press release. It is the first UCB which has migrated to the new platform of Small Finance Bank despite facing opposition from the UCB fraternity.
A Rs 2000 crore bank, Shivalik now aims to grow three times to Rs 6000 crore in a time length of four years, claimed its CEO Suveer Kumar Gupta, quotes PTI. Uttar Pradesh based bank has 31 branches and 57 ATMs.

Sources in the Uttar Pradesh government said that the Uttar Pradesh government is facing a shortage of oxygen as the Delhi government has told NB to take additional oxygen from the supplier INOX. An official said that many hospitals in the state are facing severe oxygen crisis and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has spoken to Union Minister Piyush Goyal about this.
“Inox is supplying oxygen to maximum hospitals in Uttar Pradesh … Excess supply of oxygen to Delhi will cause problems in Uttar Pradesh,” the official said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has identified 10 more victims who were allegedly sexually abused by Uttar Pradesh-based engineer Ram Bhuwan, officials said.
Bhuwan had served in the state’s irrigation department before he was suspended and arrested on charges of sexual abuse. His wife is a suspected accomplice, in the case.
