Uttar Pradesh government had postponed Classes 10 and 12 board examinations a month ago and the authorities are yet to decide whether these exams will be cancelled amid a surge in coronavirus cases. “So far, no decision has been taken on the cancellation of Class 10 and Class 12 exams. At the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a decision was also taken to extend the closure of schools till May 15. School teachers in Uttar Pradesh have also been allowed to work from home till May 20.

UP board exam 2021 is expected to be cancelled soon as there is a steady rise of Covid-19 cases in the state. In UP, there have been more than 1.34 million positive cases to date. Along with that Dinesh Sharma, Education Minister of the state has also tested positive. Out of 19, 17 board officials are also reported to be tested positive. The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) is likely to make an announcement regarding the UP Board class 10th and 12th Exams 2021.

Even as the Gujarat Secondary Education Board (GSEB) has postponed the Class 10 Exams 2021 amid a surge in the COVID-19 cases in the state, students are seeking cancellation of the exam. The official announcement on Gujarat Class 10 Board Exams 2021 read, “In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gujarat state government decides to postpone Class 10 and 12 board exams, scheduled to be held between May 10 to 25, 2021, and mass promotion for students of Class 1 to 9 and 11. The new revised dates will be announced after reviewing the coronavirus situation on May 15”.

As Coronavirus cases are on the rise all across the country, the clamour for cancelling CBSE exams is also increasing. Parents, students and politicians, among others are requesting the Centre to postpone the CBSE classes 10 and 12 Board exams scheduled to begin in May. However, several states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh have already postponed or rescheduled the state board exams.

Due to a spike in covid cases across the country, many states in India have decided to postpone the Class X and Class XII board exams following requests from students, parents, and teachers.
