Ever since the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic began, all eyes were desperately set on the arrival of a vaccine as the only purported key to ending the outbreak. And yet, after the vaccine drive has finally begun, it emerges that beneficiaries need to be urged and almost threatened to avail of the inoculation all thanks to rife fears of side effects of the vaccination.

On Wednesday, Pune district added 578 new cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), pushing the case tally to 3,74,280. With eight patients losing their lives to the virus, the death toll in the district stands at 8,980.
However, some 557 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the district after full recovery. This has brought the total number of patients cured of COVID-19 in Pune district to 3,60,432.

Pune: Private hospitals in the city are upset with the delay in the receipt of the list of vaccine beneficiaries. PMC health authorities yesterday said that software-related problems had affected the efforts to set up vaccination centres at private hospitals.
Dr Ashish Bharti, the medical chief of the civic body told The Indian Express, “We have sent the list of beneficiaries to be vaccinated at Sassoon Hospital and three corporation-run hospitals. The list of beneficiaries for the four private hospitals in the city is yet to be sent.”
