An arrest was made just a few hours after the report of a stolen vehicle in Marshall.
According to a police report, at approximately 6:11 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, a woman called the department to report her vehicle- a 2001 Toyota Sequoia- as stolen.
The woman advised she left the vehicle unlocked with the keys on the center console.
At approximately 7:53 p.m., a Saline County Deputy said he was with the vehicle at 619 East Washington Street, with one person in custody.
Officers arrived and confirmed it was the stolen vehicle.
Court documents say Justin Loggins is charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree. Bond is set at $7,500 cash only.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, on June 28, a trooper obtained a search warrant from Jasper County Circuit Court to ping the cell phone of Chase Johnson after receiving information that Johnson would be traveling to Colorado to transport marijuana back to Missouri. The ping was monitored over several days, and on July 5, the trooper observed Johnson’s cell phone traveling back toward Missouri. At approximately 2 a.m. on July 6, a trooper observed a vehicle displaying Colorado registration that traveled from eastbound I-70 onto northbound U.S. Highway 65. The vehicle was traveling closely behind another vehicle.
A court proceeding in the case of a Marshall man facing felony charges after an alleged assault to a farm hand on February 28, 2020 has been rescheduled.
During the morning hours of February 28, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in regards to an assault that had taken place on a farm facility just south of Marshall Junction where the victim reportedly suffered fractures and facial trauma as a result of the assault at the hands of 42-year-old Aaron Smith.
Smith has been charged with a Class B Felony for Assault in the First Degree. The court amended Smith’s bond on September 25 to $50,000 cash or surety if he chooses to travel to Indiana.

A report from Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper says there was a report of a stolen Chevrolet Equinox from the Eagle Stop gas station in Boonville.
The driver of the stolen vehicle is alleged to have passed three vehicles by using the shoulder of the interstate, and the pursuit reached a speed of 109 mph.
At one point, the suspect’s vehicle hit a parked vehicle at the commuter parking lot at Marshall Junction. And when he was finally confronted in Concordia, the suspect ran into a wooded area and was not located. However, the owner of the vehicle, who was called to the scene, said a cell phone that was inside the vehicle was not hers.
