ENTERPRISE â Search and Rescue team members from Wallowa, Union, Baker and Umatilla counties honed their skills in the Salt Creek Summit area of Wallowa County.
About 60 SAR volunteers and instructors from the four counties participated June 24-27 in the multi-day training, which was hosted by Wallowa County Search and Rescue volunteers.
âOur numbers were down a little from what we expected, but itâs a little late in the season,â Paige Sully, the event coordinator for WCSAR, said. âBut all in all I think it was great.â
Training included swiftwater rescue, tactical fast tracking, advanced incident command, hasty-team and K-9 land searches, rescuing injured hikers from remote locations and coordination with Civil Air Patrol aircraft.

PENDLETON â Tamara Brogoittiâs voice on the 911 call is clear and direct.
âMy pet chimpanzee has attacked my daughter,â Brogoitti told a dispatcher. âSheâs bleeding profusely. And the animal has to be shot.â
The attack occurred Sunday morning, June 20, at Brogoittiâs home and ranch on Rieth Road, across from the entrance to the Umatilla County Sheriffâs Office. Brogoitti, 68, spoke about the attack and death of Buck publicly for the first time June 22.
