Sutton principal receives Senate citation for Principal of the Year award

SUTTON Sitting in his car and using Zoom to virtually attend the June 7 Sutton School Committee meeting, State Sen. Ryan Fattman held up a blue folder and told the group he had an important message to deliver.
In the blue folder was a citation from the Massachusetts Senate congratulating Sutton High School Principal Ted McCarthy on being named the 2021-22 High School Principal of the Year by the Massachusetts School Administrators’ Association.
“Sometimes we take for granted our teachers, principals and those involved in helping students,’’ Fattman said. “So, it’s exciting to see Mr. McCarthy receive the Principal of the Year award.’’

RUSHVILLE – On Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) will recognize Robert Hadley, Principal at Rushville Consolidated High School in Rushville, as the 2021 District High School Principal from IASP District 10. District 10 is located in southeast Indiana and is made up of Dearborn, Decatur, Fayette, Franklin, Hancock, Jennings, Ripley, Rush, Shelby and Union Counties.
The recognition ceremony is a part of the 2021 Principals of the Year Recognition Celebration, a part of IASP’s annual Fall Professional Conference. The award will be presented at a dinner at the Indianapolis JW Marriott Hotel at 6 p.m. with the IASP State President, Aimee Lunsford, presiding along with Dr. Todd Bess, Executive Director.

SUTTON Sutton High School principal Ted McCarthy said he is “very honored’’ to have been named the 2021-22 High School Principal of the Year by the Massachusetts School Administrators’ Association.
But as far as he is concerned, the entire school community deserves the recognition.
“It’s not a ‘me’ award,’’ he said. “It’s a ‘we’ award.’’
“I’m lucky to work with a great group of teachers and students,’’ he said. “I always say I have the best job in the world, and I do.’’
The award is presented to high school principals who “demonstrate exemplary skills in instructional leadership, supporting a safe learning environment and fostering a collaborative culture of shared decision making among all members of their school community,’’ according to material provided by the MSAA.
McNary principal named Oregon principal of the year

McNary High principal Erik Jespersen has been named the Oregon 2021 High School Principal of the Year. Jespersen was chosen by his peers in the Oregon Association of Secondary School Administrators.
Jespersen has been McNary s principal for seven years. Before that, he was assistant principal, instructional coach and social studies teacher at McNary and McKay high schools.
During his tenure as principal, McNary has raised the school s graduation rates from 82% in 2014 to 92% in 2020. McNary’s graduation rates for special education students have risen from 54% to 82.5%, and for Latinx students from 66% to 92.6%.
