Metroman E Sreedharan to join BJP, says party s Kerala unit chief

2987 Vibha Sharma New Delhi, February 18 In what is being seen as a major fillip to the party’s prospects in Kerala, India’s “metro man” E Sreedharan is all set to join the BJP.   Kerala state party president K Surendran revealed that the 88-year-old Sreedharan, who is credited with changing the face of public transport system in the country, will officially join during the ‘Vijaya Yathra’, that the saffron party is launching with an aim to expand footprint in the Southern State. Beginning on February 21 from Kasaragod, the ‘Yathra’ will culminate at Thiruvananthapuram around the first week of March. While Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the ‘Yathra’, Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to be present at its culmination in Thiruvananthapuram.

The hill station located about 2,000 feet above sea level became a popular destination among tourists and pilgrims with the opening of a Muthappan temple there in 1989. The main attraction at the renovated spot is a spacious viewpoint gallery constructed by the Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS), which gives visitors a panoramic view of the hills. Payamkuttimala is one of the few destinations in Kerala from where a visitor can enjoy views of both sunrise and sunset.

This was disclosed by Kozhikode MP, M.K. Raghavan, who met RLDA vice chairman Ved Parkash Dudeja at his office in New Delhi. The consultant would be appointed before March 30, he said. The development comes after the Ministry of Railways decided to task the RLDA with the development of the Kozhikode station. An official team led by Mr. Dudeja would also visit Kozhikode by April, Mr. Raghavan said.
