COLUMBUS - The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission unanimously approved a $43.8 million school construction project Wednesday for the Rolling Hills Local School District.
Funding includes $22,363,6210 (51%) from the OFCC and a $21,486,605 (49%) local match for renovations and an addition to the current Meadowbrook High School building south of Byesville.
The new structure will house an estimated 1,582 Rolling Hills students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12 and the Career Tech program, according to the OFCC.
The project also allows for the abatement or demolition of the district s three current elementary school buildings and the middle school building adjacent to the current high school.
Rolling Hills construction project clears another hurdle State funding approved
BYESVILLE, Ohio–The Rolling Hills construction project cleared a major hurdle even before the Board of Education convened Thursday evening.
Hours before the school board meeting, the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) announced the funding for six state wide school construction projects, with the Rolling Hills Local School District among the six.
The local share, 51%, of the Rolling Hills project totals $22,363,610 and will be provided through an agreement with the Guernsey Power Station. The state will then provide $21,486,605 or approximately 49% of the total cost.
The basic construction plans call for renovations to Meadowbrook High School for grades 6-12 and construction of a new facility on the district campus, to house grades K-5. Current plans call for abandoning Secrest, Byesville, Brook and the middle school buildings. It’s unclear if they would be sold or demol

From her days growing up in Cumberland to a 35-year career with the Rolling Hills Local School District and numerous volunteer roles, Bev, as she was known to most, touched thousands of lives.
She just made people better.
The 67-year-old was a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a teacher, a coach, an instructor, a volunteer advocate and, maybe most importantly, a wonderful friend.
