Resolute Health Hospital recognized some unsung healthcare heroes â its volunteers â during an appreciation picnic at Landa Park in New Braunfels on Wednesday.
Volunteers were treated to a special meal, drinks and desserts, as well as games such as corn hole, horseshoes and dominoes.Â
All volunteers were recognized as âVolunteer of the Yearâ for their hard work and dedication during a challenging year.Â
Mark Bernard, Resoluteâs CEO, said one of the toughest decisions he made during the height of the pandemic was to tell volunteers to stay home to protect them from COVID-19 exposure.

AUSTIN, TX Several Austin area hospitals received top safety marks while others didn t quite measure up in The Leapfrog Group s annual spring safety grades released Thursday.
The nonprofit health care watchdog group grades hospitals twice a year, assigning letter grades from A to F based on each hospital s ability to protect patients from preventable errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
More than 2,700 general, acute-care U.S. hospitals were assessed for Leapfrog s Spring Safety Grades. Among those hospitals, 27 have achieved 19 consecutive A grades in every biannual grading cycle since Leapfrog launched the safety grades in spring 2012.

Many are getting their coronavirus vaccination shots while Comal County reminds parents to still keep up to date on infant immunizations for things like polio and measles.
Comal County has marked April 22-29 as Infant Immunization Week and has received grants for it since 1995. The grants help the countyâs public health department administer vaccines for infants.
Typically the department holds annual childrenâs health fairs to get children vaccinated and inform the public. Because of the pandemic, the department is trying to get the word out about other vaccinations since many parents worry about COVID.Â
â[We are] just reminding them thatâs the reason we have eradicated so many of these diseases through vaccines that are available and want to remind them that the earlier the better off the kids are,â Comal County public health director Cheryl Fraser said.Â
