Maharashtra government to develop the area around the Zero Mile marker in Nagpur
The Maharashtra government has decided to develop the area around the Zero Mile marker in Nagpur city as a tourist and commercial hub said Abhijeet Vanjari, Member of Maharashtra Legislative Council, Nagpur city
For uplifting the area and adding more space around the marker, the State government and city’s municipal authorities are considering closing a road which is heading to the marker and re-routing the vehicular traffic.
Zero Mile marker
The Zero Mile marker is a milestone from, which distances to various destinations across the country are measured. It was identified in the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India, which was undertaken by the East India Company and the British colonial administration. It was installed in the early 20th century.

RSS veteran, senior journalist MG Vaidya dead at 97 IANS
Nagpur: Senior journalist, ex-legislator, RSS ideologue and its first spokesperson Madhav Govind Vaidya passed away in a private hospital here on Saturday, according to official sources.
Vaidya, 97, is survived by his wife Sunanda and eight children. His children include three daughters Vibhavari G. Naik, Pratibha U. Rajhans, Bharti J. Kahu and five sons Dhananjay, Manmohan, Srinivasa, Shashibhushan and Ram.
One son, Dr. Manmohan is a senior RSS head and another is the co-convenor of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh.
Vaidya, a former Member of Maharashtra Legislative Council, had recently recovered from a Covid-19 infection, but was active and alert till the end.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed grief over the demise of veteran journalist, ex-legislator, senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue and its first spokesperson Madhav Govind Vaidya who passed away in Nagpur earlier in the day in a private hospital.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, Shri MG Vaidya Ji was a distinguished writer and journalist. He contributed extensively to the RSS for decades. He also worked to strengthen the BJP. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.
Vaidya, 97, is survived by his wife Sunanda and eight children, among them are three daughters Vibhavari G. Naik, Pratibha U. Rajhans, Bharti J. Kahu, five sons Dhananjay, Manmohan, Srinivasa, Shashibhushan and Ram, besides a large extended family.
