Sen Lankford: Public Schools and Colleges Should Not be Able to Mandate COVID Vaccination

(Getty Images) (CNS News) – When asked whether public schools and colleges should be able to mandate COVID vaccinations for their students, Senator James Lankford (R-Okla.) said, “No.” At the U.S. Capitol on July 15, CNS News asked Lankford, “Should public schools and colleges be able to mandate students to have the COVID vaccine?” Lankford replied, “No.” In preparation for the upcoming school year, colleges such as Virginia Tech and the University of Colorado have announced that they are requiring students to receive the vaccine. In a letter posted on the university’s website, VT President Tim Sands wrote, “Vaccinations will be required for all students attending Virginia Tech in the fall, with exemptions for medical reasons and sincerely held religious beliefs.”

Sen Brown: COVID Vaccination Rules for Students Should be Set by Local Communities and Schools

Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) (Getty Images) (CNS News) When asked whether public schools and colleges should be allowed to mandate COVID vaccinations for their students, Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) said that decision should be made by the local communities and the schools, not the federal government. At the U.S. Capitol on July 15, CNS News asked the senator, “Should public schools and colleges be able to mandate students to have vaccines for Covid-19?” Senator Brown replied,  “I, we believe local communities ought to be able to make those decisions and the schools. I don’t think that the federal government should tell them what or what they can’t do.”
