EPS members arrest the same person twice on one day

A short time after his release he was arrested again at a north end business for causing a disturbance. He was lodged in cells and charged with causing a disturbance under the Criminal Code, and was subsequently released on conditions in front of a Justice of the Peace. Police also attended to a residence in the south end of the city to keep the peace while an individual retrieved property from the residence. The matter was resolved without further incident. Police attended to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Fifth Street and Souris Avenue South. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, however no injuries resulted from the collision.  The driver of the eastbound vehicle on Fifth Street failed to yield to the northbound vehicle on Souris Avenue and was issued a summary offence ticket under the Traffic Safety Act.

Police make arrests for theft, impaired driving and other recent incidents

Officers received a complaint March 29 of a male refusing to wear a mask in a local business. Investigation into the matter has resulted in a 37-year-old man being charged under the Public Health Act for failing to wear a mask. He will appear in court in June to answer to the charge. Police arrested an Estevan man for breaching a condition of his release order. He was processed and released with a future court date to speak to the matter. Members are investigating two separate complaints of harassment and uttering threats from March 27. Both incidents are under investigation at this time.

Police makes arrests for impaired driving and theft of vehicle

EPS received a report of a suspicious vehicle driving erratically in southwest Estevan. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, but was soon found by members and arrested for theft of a motor vehicle. He was also charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving with only a Class 7 learner’s licence, driving an unregistered vehicle and for being an unauthorized driver. He was released in front of a justice of the peace with conditions, and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on May 10 at 9:30 a.m. © Copyright Estevan Mercury
