They’re likely to cut the herd by half once again as persistent drought conditions have seriously restricted the Sherrod’s supply of irrigation water. The 120 head that remain are vocal about letting Lynne Sherrod know they’re not fans of the drought diet, where supplemental feed has taken the place of their luscious grass and hay meals. Ascendigo opponents presented strong, truthful case I participated in the recent three-day hearing on the Ascendigo project proposed for Missouri Heights. Over 620 residents signed a petition to stop this nonconforming commercial enterprise from being built in the middle of our rural residential zoned area. We tried to express our well-founded concerns about the project. We have been called ugly names, have spent hundreds of hours reviewing documents trying to ascertain the truth, and have had to raise thousands of dollars to establish the facts around the serious threats it poses to our environment. We presented a strong, truthful case to deny the application on both the facts and the applicable law to the Board of County Commissioners. Our case included testimony of experts with no previous relationship to Ascendigo or their board members and detailed the real-world consequences we will suffer mining of our already stressed aquifer, increased exposure to wildfire, tripling of

UPDATE: Cottonwood Pass reopens after closing for rollover crash

UPDATE 3:30 P.M. MONDAY, JUNE 28: Cottonwood Pass has now reopened, according to an Eagle County alert. Cottonwood Pass from Gypsum to Colorado Highway 82 in the Roaring Fork Valley is closed as of 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 28, Eagle County Road and Bridge confirmed. There is an accident and the road is “blocked completely,” and there is no estimate yet on when it might reopen, Eagle County said in an alert. Traffic along Cottonwood Pass increased greatly this weekend following back-to-back debris slides Saturday and Sunday that closed I-70 twice through the Canyon. I-70 has remained closed since Sunday afternoon following multiple debris slides along the Grizzly Creek burn scar.
