Aston Martin concludes FIA WEC factory effort, renews Prodrive multi-year deal for customer racing from 2021

Aston Martin has confirmed the withdrawal of its factory Vantage GT motorsport programme, and will instead ‘switch the strategic focus’ to customer operations from 2021 onwards. This marks the end of the British sports car maker’s run as a manufacturer team, which has contested the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) since the series’ inception in 2012.
The shift in focus towards its customer racing programme has seen Aston Martin renew its ties with long-time partner Prodrive in a ‘multi-year deal’, where the Banbury, UK-based motorsport preparation outfit will continue to manufacture and distribute the current-generation Vantage race cars.

Developed internally under the ‘BC-08’ codename, a recent trademark application unearthed in June 2020 revealed the Woking-based car-maker planned to called the track-focused hypercar the ‘Sabre’.
Last month, a clearer picture of what McLaren was hatching emerged when blueprints for the Sabre also appeared online, and now, thanks to cochespias, the whole car has been revealed.

Da Costa aiming to replicate Hamilton in FE

Antonio Felix da Costa says that he’s aiming to stay in Formula E and replicate Lewis Hamilton’s success in F1.
In the 2019/20 season, Da Costa won the title in the most dominant fashion the series has seen, doing so with two race weekends to spare.
With him looking so impressive and having only a year left on his contract, there has been speculation about da Costa leaving to race in another category.
However, he says that he intends to stick around, with the aim of replicating the level of record-breaking success that Hamilton has enjoyed in F1.
