Aligarh: Even as the Covid pandemic has left universities across India in uncertainty and mounting complications, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) continues to get its academic credentials recognised both at international and national levels.
The university has now been placed 24th among Indian universities and 1139th in the list of top 2000 institutions of the world by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).
On the other hand, Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi has been ranked 50th in National ranking and 1710 in global ranking.

When one university in a country performs well, it is not unusual to find others from the same region or nation close behind. But do such universities work closely together to boost their overall standing or do they tend to play to their strengths in a particular discipline?

According to universities’ overall scores in different subject areas, pairs of highly ranked institutions from the same country are often closely matched in different disciplinary areas, but there can sometimes be clear water between them, too.
For instance, the National University of Singapore (NUS) has noticeably higher scores than its neighbour, Nanyang Technological University, in clinical disciplines and life sciences, but not so much in engineering and computer science. In Japan, this pattern appears to be reversed, with the University of Tokyo leading in technological disciplines and Kyoto University scoring slightly higher in health-related areas.

Doha: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani patronised the graduation ceremony of the 43rd batch (Class of 2020) of Qatar University students, which was held at the University’s Sports and Events Complex yesterday. This year 3,188 students graduated as part of QU’s Class of 2020.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani and Their Excellencies members of the University’s Board of Trustees and Vice-Presidents of the University.
H H the Amir honoured the 109 outstanding graduates, while Qatar University President Dr. Hassan Al Derham handed the certificates to 733 graduate students in various disciplines. The annual convocation includes graduates from a full academic year comprising Fall 2019, Winter 2020, Spring 2020, and Summer 2020.
