United States win opener at WBSC Americas Olympic qualifier for Tokyo 2020 Monday, 31 May 2021
The United States began their campaign to secure a spot in the men s baseball tournament at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with a thumping victory over Nicaragua at the Americas qualifier in Florida.
The US - bronze medallists at Beijing 2008, the last Olympics to feature baseball - ran out 7-1 winners in the Group A clash at St. Lucie County s Clover Park.
Luke Williams and Jarren Duran combined for six hits out of the top two spots in the US batting order, and Mark Kolosvery homered for the winner in a dominant display from the team ranked second in the world.
WBSC, Synergy Sports announce technology partnership 06/01/21
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and Synergy Sports have announced a technology partnership to bring Synergy’s suite of proprietary coaching and scouting video and data analytics services to the WBSC’s events, including the flagship Premier12 and the Baseball and Softball World Cups.
The partnership covers the 2021-2024 period and starts with this week’s WBSC Baseball Americas Qualifier. Synergy Sports will provide coaching and scouting services through their industry leading technology and camera systems at select venues for assigned WBSC events, enriching the WBSC’s on- and off-field product.
The agreement also aims to provide Synergy’s video tagging services to the WBSC’s Members, while boosting the development of baseball and softball globally through access to and the use of technologically advanced coaching and scouting tools.

The Port Dover native and former Major League Baseball pitcher was named by Baseball Canada to its 25-man roster for the upcoming World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Baseball America qualifier scheduled from May 31 to June 5 in Florida.
