Gran Turismo Is Going to the Tokyo Olympics Share: Gran Turismo is set to become a bona fide Olympic sport, as it’s been selected as one of the five official partners of the inaugural Olympic Virtual Series, which is slated to take place from 13th May through 23rd June. That’s prior to the delayed Tokyo Olympics, which is currently scheduled to start in July. This will mark the first ever Olympic event for esports. There’ll be five games featured as part of the event in total, each of which is aligned with an International Sports Federation to add authenticity. In the case of Gran Turismo, it’s the FIA, or Federation Internationale de l’Automobile to give it its full title. Fascinatingly, this is the first time a motorsport has been recognised at the Olympics.

The event will comprise a number of virtual sporting events called Olympic Virtual Series (OVS) that will take place ahead of Tokyo Olympics. 1 photo The OVS will begin on May 13th and run until June 23rd, and according to the organizers, it is popularizing virtual sports, esports, and gaming while also supporting physical and non-physical sports. The five IFs that will be part of the OVS include FIA, World Sailing, Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), World Rowing, and World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).

USA BASEBALL FINALIZES 2021 PROFESSIONAL NATIONAL TEAM STAFF 04/22/21 USA Baseball Professional National Team Manager Mike Scioscia finalized the coaching staff for the 2021 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Baseball Americas Qualification Event for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020, the organization announced today. Coaching alongside Scioscia will be Jerry Weinstein (Bench Coach), Dave Wallace (Pitching Coach), Ernie Young (Hitting Coach/First Base), Darren Fenster (Third Base), and Roly de Armas (Bullpen). Combined, the 2021 staff brings 19 years of playing and coaching experience with Team USA to this year’s Professional National Team, having won five gold medals and five silver medals in their time representing the U.S. Additionally, Young was a member of the gold medal-winning team at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
