New Delhi, Feb 22 : The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) on Monday signed a contract agreement for procurement and fabrication of 28 steel bridges with the L&T-IHI consortium for the 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, popularly known as the Bullet train project.
An NHSRCL spokesperson said that a contract agreeemnt has been signed with the L&T-IHI, which is a consortium between Indian and Japanese companies.

New Delhi, Jan 25 : The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has awarded a contract for procurement and fabrication of 28 steel bridges to L&T-IHI Infrastructure Systems consortium worth Rs 1,390 crore for crossing over railway lines, rivers, highways, roads and other structures for the ambitious 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor, officials said on Monday.
An NHSRCL official in a statement said that the contract worth Rs 1,390 crore has been awarded to Larson & Toubro - IHI Infrastructure Systems (consortium), which is a consortium between Indian and Japanese companies.
VADODARA: L&T-IHI Infrastructure Systems, a consortium of Indian and Japanese companies, emerged the lowest bidder for the procurement and fabrication of 28 steel bridges crossing over railway lines, rivers, highways, road and other structures for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor.
The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) opened the financial bids for the project on Friday. Eight companies had participated in the bid of which four were qualified after technical evaluation. The four include Tata Projects Ltd, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, NCC Ltd and Larsen & Toubro – IHI Infrastructure Systems Consortium.
NHSRCL has already awarded civil contracts for construction of 64 % of MAHSR alignment which includes five high speed rail stations at Vapi, Billimora, Surat, Bharuch, Anand/Nadiad, a train depot at Surat and a mountain tunnel of 350 m.

According to NHSRCL, an estimated 70,000 MT of steel will be required for the fabrication of the steel bridges. This is likely to provide a boost to the country s steel industry and the allied supply chains. (
